AI has the potential to super-charge the spreading of misinformation in conflict-affected contexts

This week I spoke on a panel hosted by CDAC Network on the role and implications of AI in humanitarian contexts.

AI has the potential to super-charge the spreading of misinformation in conflict-affected contexts where trust in public institutions is already eroded. This can affect and even imperil humanitarian efforts, yet, so far, communities affected by crises and civil society actors are largely absent from global policy and governance conversations.

The panel discussed the importance of humanitarian agencies and organisations becoming more AI-literate, and investing in journalism that can hold tech companies to account.
